Travis Hunter said his fiancée, Leanna Lenee, got drunk and cried herself to sleep after she received harsh online criticism from fans following his Heisman Trophy win over the weekend.
“She’s still sleeping, she’s slumped,” the Colorado Buffaloes star player told viewers during a live Twitch stream Sunday, per a video shared on X.
“You know when you’re hurt but you just cry yourself to sleep and you just be gone? She drunk [sic], like, an OD amount tonight for no reason,” he shared, adding that Lenee would “be up in the morning.”
In the first half of the live stream, Hunter, 21, defended his fiancée against the hate she’s received for her past comments on their relationship and her seemingly “rude” behavior at public events.
“You ain’t never had no girl, so why are y’all talking about me?” the wide receiver said. “Find something else to talk about … Go talk about your girl. Go find a girl. Go find a life. Stop worrying about what I got going on. I know what I got.”
Hunter said Lenee has been with him for five years and the public is “just now starting” to talk about him. He then called out “clickbait” sites for creating false narratives about his relationship.
“Clickbait pages stop, y’all better stop I’m telling y’all. Something bad is gonna happen to y’all [if you] keep doing that. Y’all better stop that. I ain’t playing,” he said.
“Y’all hate on me then you go hate on my girl,” the athlete continued. “I feel the same thing that she feels. We’re inseparable. We’re with each other. If she’s hurting, I’m hurting.”
The discourse surrounding Hunter and Lenee’s relationship heightened last week after a 2022 video resurfaced of the couple reflecting on when they first started dating.
In the clip, Leanna admitted that she wasn’t initially interested in Hunter, who slid into her DMs.
“I just didn’t respond to him. He wasn’t my type,” she confessed, before saying that she finally gave in to one of his messages.
Fans also criticized Lenee for not giving Hunter a standing ovation when his name was called as the Heisman Trophy winner.
According to a video shared online, Hunter’s coach, Deion Sanders, had to nudge Lenee in the back before she got out of her seat to stand and clap for the cornerback.
Over the weekend, a video also surfaced of the Kennesaw State University graduate seemingly having an attitude about having to wait while her man took photos with fans at an Adidas event.
“Travis Hunter gotta get his girlfriend some media training or let her go. The fact that she is displaying such a nasty attitude publicly, while he’s interacting with fans is very disrespectful and rude. … This man is about to be a star and it appears that she is absolutely not ready for it,” tweeted one user.
“Travis Hunter need to search ‘Travis Hunter girlfriend’ on Twitter and wake the f–k up. How everybody else see it but you….?” added another.
“Everytime I see Travis Hunter’s girlfriend she got an attitude & mean mugging him….there’s something off about her,” wrote a third person.
