After her Eras Tour ends, Taylor Swift is expected to spend the next few weeks in Kansas City with Travis Kelce — despite the Chiefs star being the target of an international crime ring.
Kelce’s $6 million mansion was burglarized in October, with the Super Bowl winner reportedly missing $100,000 in jewelry, $20,000 in cash, his first Super Bowl jersey and a watch that were later found in Rhode Island. They were believed to have been inside the home for less than 15 minutes.
The FBI is investigating the case and Kelce, who was said to be “frustrated and angry” over the robbery, has responded by increasing security at his home amid NFL warnings that a South American criminal gang may be behind multiple incidents involving players.
But the shocking incident didn’t stop Swift from staying with her boyfriend during the holidays — one of the busiest times of the year for Kelce and the Chiefs as they chase a third straight Super Bowl victory.
‘She will be going to Kansas City and staying there for a while over the next few weeks to be with Travis and show him her love and support,’ a source was quoted as saying by The Sun.
‘She wants to see another potential championship season for the Chiefs. Travis currently has the busiest schedule of the two.
‘But she’s excited that they’ll be spending time together, having dinner together, relaxing and baking. Christmas will be a special holiday for both of them.’
Several NFL players have been robbed in recent weeks. Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes was targeted on October 6, with Kelce’s property broken into a day later while the pair were playing for the Chiefs against the New Orleans Saints.
Kelce responded to the break-in by upgrading her home’s security system and adding reinforced locks, among other comprehensive measures. Swift also travels with her own elaborate security arrangements.
Last week, Joe Burrow’s home in Cincinnati was broken into while he was playing for the Bengals in Dallas, about 1,000 miles away.
The incident drew further attention when police were called by Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Olivia Ponton, who was also at the home, even as Burrow was reportedly dating Olivia Holzmacher.
Burrow said: ”I feel like my privacy has been violated in a lot of ways, and there’s been more information released than I would like and I don’t want to share so that’s all I can say about that”.
Kelce, 35, has not commented publicly on the robbery while Mahomes only offered brief comments at a Chiefs press conference in November saying: ‘It’s frustrating, it’s disappointing.
‘I can’t go into too much detail because the investigation is still ongoing. Obviously you don’t want that to happen to anyone, but especially to yourself.’
Last week, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa admitted that he now has armed security at his mansion while he tours with the team.
He said he made the arrangements after his car was broken into last year.
‘It’s a bit too close for my comfort when my family is in the house,’ he said. ‘So we hired personal bodyguards to take care of all that.
‘While we were on the road, some people accompanied my wife, and some people came to the house to survey the house.
‘Just let everyone know. They are armed so I hope if you decide to come to my house, you think carefully.’
Meanwhile, Kelce and the Chiefs will return to NFL action on Saturday when they host the Houston Texans at Arrowhead — likely without Mahomes, who suffered a high ankle sprain in a win over the Cleveland Browns.
They will then face the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Christmas Day and finish the regular season away from home against the Denver Broncos on January 5.
