Prince William is reportedly organising a romantic getaway for Kate Middleton in the south-west of the UK. 2024 is a particularly difficult year for the Prince and Princess of Wales, with Kate undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer and Prince Charles also receiving medical care for the disease.
This Christmas is particularly special for the couple as they cherish time with their loved ones. A source told Bella magazine that William “wants to make memories with Kate so he’s planning a romantic getaway to the Isles of Scilly – one of their favourite places to escape for some quiet time together”.
As William wraps up a busy year of charity work, family care and meetings with President-elect Donald Trump, the source shared more about his holiday plans for Kate: “Kate’s family will also be a big part of the celebrations.
“They’ve always been like that but this year William is working with them so Kate can have the whole family on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.”
The preparations for Christmas and a planned trip to the Isles of Scilly in 2025 come as Kate continues to recover from cancer treatment, the Express reports.
Prince William’s ideal holiday destination is an archipelago in the Celtic Sea, which has just 2,203 inhabitants. That number increases slightly when William and Kate visit their holiday home, which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall.
The four-bedroom house, called Tamarisk House, is located on St Mary’s, the largest of the Isles of Scilly, and is even available to rent to the public, according to the Mirror. The Isles of Scilly tourism website describes St. Mary’s as a “pleasant safe haven of hidden treasures” with “long stretches of deserted white sand beaches, dramatic rocky coves, stunning seascapes, fantastic archaeological sites, stunning walks and scenery along miles of coastal and rural paths and nature trails.”
The beaches of the Isles of Scilly have been compared to those of the Caribbean. In addition to his visits to the Isles of Scilly, William has travelled the world on charitable and diplomatic missions.
He was recently photographed meeting Donald Trump after the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral. While Kensington Palace did not comment on the conversation between the two, Trump told the New York Post: “He looked really, really handsome last night. Some people look better in person. He looked great. He looked really handsome, and I told him so.”
Despite Donald Trump’s previous expressions of admiration for the British royal family, including the late Queen Elizabeth II, there are concerns he may take a different stance towards Prince Harry, who is now based in the US. Speaking to the Express, Clacton MP and Reform Party leader Nigel Farage highlighted potential issues with Harry’s admission of past drug use.
“A lot of it depends on the drug issue, if the Trump administration pushes to ask, ‘Was his visa granted based on a lie? ‘ That would be interesting,” he said.
