Prince George is spitting image of a young Prince William

Eagle-eyed royal watchers have noted the likeness between Prince George and his father Prince William once more.

It comes after the royals made an appearance at the Christmas Day service at St Mary Magdalene Church at Sandringham on December 25.

William attended the special annual event on the Norfolk estate with his wife, the Princess of Wales, 42, and their three children, Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six.

Observations over the likeness between the Prince of Wales and his eldest child came after George wore a long coat for the service – a similar style to one sported by William at a similar age.

George, 10, donned the longer-length coat over his dark tie and trousers, and white shirt for the first time, after usually wearing a blazer for the annual event.

His look mirrored William’s 1993 look, when, aged 11, he wore a similar formal longer coat (following the more casual short jacket he had worn the year before).

Royal fans have commented on how similar George looks to his father when he was a child on numerous occasions.

Earlier this month, the future king, 10, joined his family for his mother Kate Middleton’s Together at Christmas carol concert at Westminster Abbey.

Prince William is pictured in 1993, aged 11, wearing a long coat to the Sandringham Church service, accompanied by his father Prince Charles

And fans we quick to point out how the young royal bears a striking resemblance to his father at the same age.

Photos of the Prince of Wales aged 10 show the same smile and hair as young George now sports.

And the similarities are all the more striking when the two don similar outfits, like Prince William’s 1993 long coat and trousers, and Prince George’s 2024 ensemble.

In addition to eldest Wales child donning a smart long coat for the annual church service at Sandringham, the youngest – Prince Louis, six – also opted for the same smart attire.

It is not the first time the young royals have been snapped in a longer coat, but their look marked a departure from their Christmas Day ensembles from previous years, leading to the comparison between William and George.

Every year members of the Royal Family attend the service at the Sandringham Church.

Before going in, those there – including the King and Queen among others – posed for a photo outside the church.

The Reverend Canon Dr Paul Rhys Williams greeted them, before everyone went inside, where the national anthem was sung, before the first hymn – O Come, All  Ye Faithful.

Every year, the service marks a major event for royal fans, some of whom even started waiting the evening before, in the hopes of catching a glimpse of members of The Firm as they walked to church.

Charles, 76, and 77-year-old Queen Camilla walked the short distance from Sandringham House to St Mary Magdalene Church past a crowd of well-wishers.

They were, of course, joined by the Waleses, as well as the Princess Royal and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Both Queen Camilla and Princess Catherine donned emerald green coats as they walked with King Charles and Prince William.

Catherine’s coat was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

Crowds were given copies of the order of service, conducted at the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Sandringham, conducted by the Rector Rev Canon Dr Paul Rhys Williams.

Hymns included O Come All Ye Faithful, Oh Little Town of Bethlehem, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night, and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The service also included The Lord’s Prayer.

Prince William said last week that he was looking forward to spending Christmas with 45 members of his family ‘all in one room’ as he attended a seasonal event for families of 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment, in his role as colonel-in-chief, in Bulford, Wiltshire.

Commenting earlier this month, after snaps emerged from the Princess of Wales’ carol concert at Westminster Abbey, royal watchers took to social media to marvel at the likeness between George, 10, and his father at a similar age.
