Apparently Kate Middleton isn’t the only royal who loves an upcycled fashion moment.
Prince Louis may not have made his official debut just yet, but he’s following in his father’s royal footsteps in more ways than one. Taking up Prince William‘s love of Aston Villa, the six-year-old donned a jersey from the Premier League team during a rather chaotic royal Christmas at Sandringham.
According to Hello, the jersey was a hand-me-down from Prince George, proving that Kate Middleton isn’t the only member of the Wales family to love an upcycled fashion moment. The jersey, of course, points to a long-held love of the team which William has supported since his school days.
“A long time ago at school, I got into football big time,” William told The Sun in 2023. “All my friends were Chelsea or Manchester United fans, and I didn’t really want to follow the run-of-the-mill team. I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments. Aston Villa has always had a great history.”
Prince Louis wore the jersey for a quick practice round with Kate Middleton, which marked a brief respite from the otherwise busy holiday season at Sandringham. After making his Christmas concert debut at Westminster Abbey, the prince and his siblings were then whisked off to the royals’s country retreat, where festivities began in earnest.
As per tradition, the family joined King Charles at his pre-Christmas lunch, then stepped out later that week for their annual Christmas Day walk to St. Mary Magdalene Church. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Prince Louis did not don his jersey for these events, and instead wore a crisp suit and tie, once again matching his dad and brother.
