David Beckham has publicly pledged his loyalty to Prince William amidst his attendance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, potentially sidelining Prince Harry. In a frank interview, the football icon opened up about his bond with the Royal Family, especially his commitment to the Prince of Wales.
Beckham recounted how he would always respond affirmatively to William’s requests, stating: “Whenever the Prince of Wales sends me a message and says ‘I need you to do this’ or ‘be there’, it’s always a ‘yes.'”
He recalled supporting causes close to William like veteran welfare and raising funds for two new helicopters for London’s Air Ambulance Charity. Beckham expressed his continuous readiness to assist, saying: “Over the years, I’ve done a lot with the Prince of Wales, and I’ve always been there whenever he’s asked me to get involved with things.”
Remembering his contribution to London’s Air Ambulance charity, the soccer star shared: “These are the things that when I was a kid, I used to see the helicopters going over, and you knew exactly what they were going to do – on their way to an emergency. To be involved in that has always been a yes from me.”
Admirers of both Beckham and the royals have been quick to react to a video of his comments that surfaced online, with one fan suggesting: “Much respect to the Beckhams! Think a Knighthood is long overdue,” reports the Express.
Another added: “Lovely man.”
William recently enlisted a high-profile aide from David and Victoria Beckham’s crew. He brought on board Victoria Shires, previously David’s Head of PR for DB Ventures, as a communications ace for his Homewards campaign. This Royal Foundation initiative is driven by the ambition to tackle homelessness.
