Princess Kate Middleton wore jewelry with a special meaning at a royal engagement to honor those affected by the Holocaust.

Middleton, 43, stepped out with Prince William, 42, at Guildhall in London on Monday, January 27. The event commemorated the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.

The princess wore an all-black ensemble with sentimental accessories, including Queen Elizabeth II’s Bahrain pearl drop earrings, multiple outlets including Tatler and Page Six reported.

The earrings were a gift to Queen Elizabeth by the Hakim of Bahrain to celebrate her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947. They were worn by the late Queen and other royals, including Princess Diana and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, on multiple occasions throughout the years.

Middleton previously wore the earrings at the respective funerals of Prince Philip in 2021 and Queen Elizabeth in 2022.

The Princess of Wales has been known to pay tribute to the late Queen by wearing some of the late monarch’s most iconic jewelry over the years. Middleton has previously sported her necklaces, tiaras, and diamond earrings.

The royal also debuted a new accessory for the event. She wore a faux five-strand pearl necklace by Jewish-owned brand Susan Caplan.

“Today marks 80 years since the Holocaust, and as a Jewish owned brand we are honoured that the Princess of Wales chose to wear our necklace for today’s memorial to commemorate Holocaust Remembrance Day,” Caplan wrote on Instagram alongside photos of the event.

The vintage necklace is Rhodium plated and features a Swarovski crystal clasp, according to the product description on Caplan’s website. It originally retailed at a relatively modest £250, or around $310; however, it has since sold out online.

As for Middleton’s outfit, the royal wore an all-black design complete with a coat by one of her favorite designers, Catherine Walker.

“A solemn moment of remembrance and hope for the future at today’s Holocaust Memorial Day service,” the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote in an Instagram post alongside footage of the event.

“Honoured to take part in this important event to commemorate the lives lost in the Holocaust and other genocides,” they added.
