Kate Middleton and Prince William just shared a rare, personal post celebrating their relationship in honor of Valentine’s Day. The simple post features an idyllic photo of the pair holding hands and sitting on a picnic blanket in the woods as William kisses his smiling wife on the cheek. The post was captioned with a red heart emoji.
The photo appears to be a screenshot from the Princess of Wales’ video from last September in which she reflected on her cancer journey after completing chemotherapy. In the video, Middleton was seen walking through the woods near her home in Norfolk with her husband and her three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said in the video. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”
Since releasing the sweet video and completing her course of chemotherapy, Middleton has begun to make more royal appearances, though her schedule is still reduced. She stepped out on Christmas Day with her family and later made a surprise appearance at the hospital where she had been treated. While there, she spoke to staff and patients, revealing she was officially in remission. Following that appearance, she made another stop at a children’s hospice.
Several weeks ago, she and William made their first joint appearance since Middleton’s announcement, attending a London ceremony honoring Holocaust Memorial Day and marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the largest Nazi death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau.
According to reports, their relationship has only gotten stronger over the past year. An insider told People that they have a “more open” relationship and are willing to “talk about their relationship together.” The insider added, “the difficult period has brought a newfound depth to their relationship, revealing an unprecedented level of openness in their expressions of love for each other.”
In January, William posted a touching tribute to Middleton in honor of her 43rd birthday.
