Nicole Scherzinger apologizes for ‘hurt’ caused by her commenting, ‘liking’ pro-Donald Trump posts

Nicole Scherzinger is sorry and setting the record straight on her political beliefs after she received backlash for interacting with pro-Donald Trump posts on Instagram.

“I deeply apologize for the hurt caused by my recent engagement with some social media posts,” the former Pussycat Dolls member, 46, wrote via an Instagram Story Friday.

“I made the mistake of not realizing that they could be easily interpreted as being politically related and I apologize to anyone who understandably reached that conclusion.”

Scherzinger insisted that the “presumptions” being drawn about her being a Trump supporter “do not reflect” who she is, what she stands for or for whom she voted.

The “Don’t Cha” singer started to catch some heat after fans noticed she commented on a post Russell Brand shared on Election Day that featured the comedian holding a MAGA-like hat.

However, instead of the red cap saying, “Make American Great Again,” it read, “Make Jesus First Again.”

Scherzinger commented under the post at the time, “Where do I get this hat!!!? ️.”

People also noticed she had “liked” a post Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared on his Instagram in which the former Independent candidate talked about wanting to get Trump back in the White House.

Many of Scherzinger’s critics are members of the LGBTQIA+ community, who claimed they had been staunch supporters of the Broadway star throughout her career.

“Imagine using gay people to promote your new show and then abandoning us at the ballot box. Shame on you,” one person wrote on social media.

Another chimed in, “And any Tony nom is gone with the wind! Just like your fans. Bye.”

Scherzinger wrote in response Friday, “Many of the marginalized communities feeling hurt and concerned by the results of the presidential election are people I care about the most.”

“I stand with them, as I always have, throughout my life and career,” she further insisted. “If you know me, you know that.”

The “Buttons” singer then explained that she engaged with the posts because she thought she was “encouraging people to choose love and faith — ‘putting Jesus first.’”

Scherzinger has been open about her religious views in the past. In 2016, she told the Daily Mail that she almost turned down a role in the TV remake of “Dirty Dancing” because it featured an abortion storyline.

“My family, my Papa’s a Bishop and my family’s really hardcore against abortion,” the former “Masked Singer” judge shared at the time.

“I got the role and I almost didn’t take it because I didn’t want to promote abortion, because my character has an abortion. …Hopefully they can learn from you know her ways and I can be a positive influence.”

Scherzinger concluded in her latest statement, “I come from a place of love, and I will always support values that bring us closer together.

“It’s so important we come together with compassion, and love one another more now than ever.”
