Bigwig plastic surgeon reveals his unconventional Botox technique to prevent bruising

For anyone who’s ever had Botox – you’ve definitely never had it the way Dr. Barry Weintraub does it.

The celebrated New York doctor tips his patients upside down when giving them the anti–wrinkle shots.

“It’s a technique that I’ve called Upside Down Botox. And it’s very, very important,” Dr. Weintraub told Page Six Style from his Fifth Avenue office.

“It’s important because many people complain of bruising when they get Botox. And if you move the treatment table to a position where your feet are a little higher than your head, the blood will go all the way back down to your forehead and the veins pop out right at me. I can see them and therefore avoid them,” he stated.

He clarified, “In a normal position you can’t see them, and that’s why people bruise.”

“That, coupled with a very, very fine needle that I use from Japan, allows me to get in and out of my Botox areas without having bruising and swelling,” he revealed.

Dr. Weintraub, who has been in practice for more than 30 years, said the idea simply makes “common sense”.

He also likes to get patients to relax by telling them they are off to St. Barts in the Caribbean, treating them to a little temporal massage to relax them.

And then, for the pièce de résistance, he numbs his patients with frozen breast implants after the injections.

“It’s just a beautiful feeling on the forehead because it’s soft and moldable rather than sharp edges that ice or a bag of peas would usually have,” he said.
