Donald Trump Jr. has ruffled the feathers of some Italian animal activists, but he says he has all his ducks in a row!
The activists got their beaks out of joint — and are calling fowl play — after a video surfaced that showed Don Jr. hunting ducks in Italy that included one rare bird.
Local pols have even demanded an inquiry into the bird flap, and they’ve got their knives out, the Daily Mail reported.
But it seems Don Jr.’s goose isn’t cooked just yet, as his spokesperson says the whole bird bruhaha is overcooked.
“Don and his group had all the proper permits and were hunting in a legally allowed area, where there were countless other hunting groups present,” the political scion’s rep, Andy Surabian, told Page Six.
He added: “While it’s unclear whether this single duck was unintentionally shot by someone in Don’s hunting group, another hunting group or killed in a different manner and retrieved by the groups hunting dog, Don takes following all rules, regulations and conservation on his hunts very seriously and plans on fully cooperating with any investigation.”
The alleged hunting video was posted by Don Jr.’s website, Field Ethos, the Daily Mail reported, but it seems to have been taken down.
The hunting trip apparently took place near a lagoon outside Venice, where Page Six exclusively reported Don Jr. took his girlfriend, Bettina Anderson, on an Italian getaway in December.
The video reportedly shows a group of men, including Don Jr., 47, who’s reportedly seen popping out wearing camo, and firing at some ducks above.
According to the Daily Mail’s report, a participant in the hunt says, “It was a great duck shoot with a little bit of good eating in Venice,” and the clip allegedly ends with one hunter adding, “Don got about 50.”
Among the dead birds shown in the vid, one is unusually colored, and the Trump scion even says it’s “a rather uncommon bird in the area. I’m not even sure what it is.”
The duck in question could be a Ruddy Shelduck, a rare species in Europe!
But another source, who remained anonymously in the duck blind, told Page Six: “It’s also worth noting that there is actually zero evidence that it was Don who shot the one duck in question — the whole thing is so dumb!” (They don’t seem to give a duck about the alleged Code a l’Orange.)
A Green party pol, Andrea Zanoni, reportedly said via Italian outlet Corriere Del Veneto, “Like any foreigner, in Italy he was not allowed to hunt by law. In fact, in our country only residents of one of the Italian regions can hunt.”
