Donald Trump wins 2024 presidential election

Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election and is set to become the 47th president of the United States.

The 78-year-old – who defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 – defeated Vice President Kamala Harris.

Although Trump lost the presidential race in 2020 to President Joe Biden, he will return to the White House in 2025.

Prior to AP News projecting Trump as the winner Wednesday morning, he thanked “the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected” in a victory speech at his Mar-a-Lago celebration.

“This was a movement like no one has ever seen before,” he continued. “Frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time.

“Now it is going to reach a new level of importance,” Trump added. “Because we are going to help our country heal.”

Runningmate J.D. Vance echoed, “I think we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America.”

Trump took to X (formerly Twitter) – a social platform that previously banned him – on the morning of election day and encouraged his followers to vote for him.

“Your vote will lead us to Greatness. Your vote will unleash a new GOLDEN AGE! Your vote will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE! VOTE TRUMP!” he penned.

He also encouraged his followers to “stay online” and to not “get offline” ahead of the polls closing.

“Republicans we’re doing really well,” Trump said via X. “Stay online. Don’t get offline and vote.”

He also predicted that he would successfully defeat Harris.

Many celebrities have endorsed the candidates this election, with Trump earning support from actor Zachary Levi, tech billionaire Elon Musk, NFL star Harrison Butker and model Amber Rose.

Despite Trump’s victory, many celebrities took to social media to endorse his opponent ahead of election night.
