Prince George, an avid football fan, joined his father Prince William on the pitch for a pre-Christmas match, marking their first time playing together.
The duo participated in the annual game between Sandringham estate workers and local villagers, with Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, cheering them on from the sidelines.
According to The Sun, an insider revealed that William nearly scored a goal while George energetically dashed around the pitch, creating what spectators described as “healthy father-and-son bonding time”.
The source added: “There were other children playing and it was all good fun and light-hearted. It is nice that they have returned to take part in the traditional game as they haven’t done so for years. But it was interesting to see that Harry has now been substituted for Prince George.”
In the past, William, 42, has taken George, 11, to Villa Park and they’ve cheered on England at Wembley together.
They were photographed celebrating when Cole Palmer scored for England in the Euro 2024 final against Spain in Berlin in July, which England won 2-1. The Princess of Wales, 42, looked stunning in a deep purple polo neck, lilac waistcoat, beige trousers and a green cap as she watched the game from the sidelines.
She wore her hair in a stylish plait and held black leather gloves, with Prince Louis, 6, and Princess Charlotte, 9, standing beside her in support, reports the Mirror.
Back in 2020, William revealed on That Peter Crouch Podcast that he’s not steering George towards his own football loyalties. He disclosed: “I’m trying not to persuade him to be a Villa fan, I’m letting him choose his own way. It’s about finding what fits for him.”
Not only is George dabbling in football fandom, but the young Royal has also spread his wings quite literally.
At the tender age of 11, the future king took control of an aircraft in his very first flying lesson, right in Windsor’s backyard. His inaugural flight was at White Waltham Airfield, conveniently located near Adelaide Cottage – practically within earshot of his family home.
With both the Prince and Princess of Wales cheering him on, George’s aerial adventure marked a high-flying end to his summer break.
