Lara Spencer is bandaged up and on the way to recovery after undergoing double foot surgeries.
The television host — who has been absent from “Good Morning America” this week — revealed on Instagram Wednesday that she went under the knife to help alleviate painful foot issues she’s been dealing with for quite some time.
Spencer, 55, told followers the operation on her right foot was a bit easier as she had a plate removed from a surgery she underwent last year.
In January 2023, her right foot was operated on for a torn plantar plate and ligament, which she said at the time were “slowly getting worse and worse.”
“The left is a bigger deal from a very old college diving injury,” Spencer explained in her most recent post, which included a selfie with foot and ankle surgeon Dr. Martin O’Malley and a snap of her feet, which were both bandaged and in boots.
“I was doing a reverse one and a half and hit the board, shattering toes and joints,” she recalled.
“Back then they said there was nothing you could do except tape it, let it heal, and live with the pain. Today there are much better options.”
Spencer was a three-sport athlete at Garden City High School in Long Island, NY, and then focused on springboard and platform diving in college at Pennsylvania State University.
She did not divulge when she is expected to recover or when she will return to television.
