Apple Martin subtly addressed backlash over her public debut at Le Bal des Débutantes in a playful TikTok.
The 20-year-old seemingly responded to claims about her “mean girl” behavior in a since-deleted video posted by her pal Ava Crox, per the Daily Mail.
“I don’t know how anyone has a problem with us. We are such a delight,” Apple and her two friends mouthed to a voiceover.
“We are two of the funniest girls and I know us, like offline,” one of her friends lipsynched as the camera cut to Crox. “When I tell you, there aren’t two more caring, charitable, generous, kind…”

The influx of hate only grew after a video of Apple and fellow debutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort went viral for all the wrong reasons.
In the clip, Loppin de Montmort posed for photographers before Apple jokingly jumped into the frame and struck a few poses.
The French debutante awkwardly laughed as the Vanderbilt University student posed with her hands on her hips.

However, Loppin de Montmort came to Apple’s defense amid the mounting backlash.
“[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever!” she told People. “She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting.”
“She was the nicest girl ever towards not only me but all the debs!” she doubled down.
