Dylan O’Brien — who played the male romantic lead in Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” video — says the singer helped him overcome his hesitation about starring in the project.
The “Teen Wolf” alum told Variety in an interview published Tuesday that the thought of appearing in a music video once made him “really uncomfortable,” but he decided to move forward with the role, which also starred actress Sadie Sink, because of Swift’s talent as a director.
“For that to be her first time directing, Taylor had the absolute right instinct to be like, ‘I hired these actors because I am a fan of the work that they’ve done, and I’m going to let them come in and do that work,’” he told the outlet.
“I loved what she was trying to tell with that. And I fully felt like I understood my role in it, and that excited me.”
The “All Too Well” short film was released in November 2021 on the heels of her “Red” studio album re-release. It won a Grammy for Best Music Video and nabbed three MTV Video Music Award wins and two nominations.
