Jameela Jamil sounds off on ‘era of Ozempic heroin chic’ after overcoming eating disorder

Jameela Jamil shared a fiery statement about the “era of Ozempic heroin chic” she feels Hollywood is in amid the trend of weight loss drugs.

The “Good Place” actress, who overcame anorexia, sounded off on Hollywood’s diet culture on Instagram Thursday with a photo of herself cheerfully eating in a black two-piece swimsuit.

“May I have the strength through this era of Ozempic heroin chic, in my industry to keep up this good work I did on my brain throughout 2025,” she wrote in text atop the video of herself. “I would rather leave this industry than get dragged back.”

In her caption accompanying the slideshow, Jamil, 38, also questioned what the trend is “teaching the kids.”

“The amount of people in my industry just taking [Ozempix] to go from slim to super skinny, to finally achieve the obedient waif physique to fit the obedient sample sizes…. has been hard to watch,” she said.

“Especially for those of us who have fought off eating disorders. Who are they really doing it for?”

She added that she plans on “sitting out this cycle.”

“Curves will come back. They always do,” Jamil went on. “Then they will go away again. Then come back.”

“I’m not playing with my brain, my heart, my bone density, or my metabolism for a trend. You can’t be left behind in a LOOP.”

The “Marry Me” actress also included a photo of herself “pretending to eat a chocolate” at the “height” of her anorexia.

“Pretending to be happy. Pretending not to be on the verge of fainting,” she noted.

She included an image of herself grinning in a black one-piece as well.

Jamil opened up about her past eating disorder in May while appearing on Kelly Ripa’s “Let’s Talk off Camera” podcast.

She said her disorder was so severe that she harmed her kidney, liver, digestive system and her heart.

She candidly added, “I took so many laxatives, I’m amazed I even still have an a–hole, to be perfectly honest. It’s a real trooper. It’s a survivor.”

“I took any pill or drink or diet that Oprah recommended. I did it. I took it. You know, any very low calorie supermodel diet.”

Jamil confirmed she had been “eating properly” for five years at that point and regretted putting her body through so much stress.

“That’s why I’m so annoying publicly about eating disorders and diets because there’s so much talk about the dangers of being in a bigger body and there’s no talk almost about the dangers of not eating enough, only eating too much,” she explained.

She has been a vocal body positivity advocate for years and even called out Kim Kardashian in 2020 after she posted a photo of herself rocking a tight corset that made her waist look extra tiny.
