Jessica Simpson celebrated seven years of sobriety on Friday after clapping back at drinking accusations in August.
The “Dukes of Hazzard” actress marked the occasion on Instagram by sharing a black-and-white photo of herself looking out the window of an airplane.
“7yrs ago today I walked myself into the light of being alcohol free 🤍,” she wrote in the caption.
The post comes months after the singer defended herself against drinking accusations online.
When a fan told the singer she should “stop drinking” under a photo of her 11-year-old son, Ace, Simpson made it very clear where she stood on her sobriety journey.
“I haven’t wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I’ve made for myself and for my family,” she responded.
She then thanked the Instagram user for their “concern” before adding, “but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way.”
The commenter eventually responded back to Simpson’s message with an apology.
“I’m so happy to hear that!! Sorry for my misunderstanding,” the response read. “Sending love to you as well.”
The mother of three revealed in her memoir, “Open Book,” that she decided to quit drinking after her inebriation prevented her from dressing her kids for Halloween that year.
“I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape,” she wrote. “I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night.”
Simpson was also addicted to diet pills for two decades.
