Kate Middleton may break centuries-old tradition for Prince George's sake

Kate Middleton could be about to make a decision that will make Prince George the first male heir to break a very particular royal tradition.

Recently, Middleton has reportedly been taking a look at two North London day schools, with speculation building over where the 11-year-old George will be educated once he leaves Lambrook.

He is currently at Lambrook with his two siblings, Charlotte and Louis. Many previous reports have suggested that William and Kate want their kids to continue being educated at the same school, with Marlborough College looking like the most likely destination.

It has been reported by the Mail on Sunday that Kate is completely sold on Marlborough College and the question is now which house George will be in, rather than if he will attend the school at all.

If that happens, it will be the first time ever that a male heir has been educated in a co-educational school.

Middleton spent part of December looking at schools for George, visiting University College School (UCS) in Hampstead and Highgate School, with the second being closed for the day for a ‘special VIP visitor’.

The insider who spoke to Mail Online suggested that the cancer treatment Middleton received may have caused the families priorities to change somewhat.

The source claimed: “With the year Catherine has had, she may well have thought to herself that she wants to soak up every drop of George‘s childhood and tuck him into bed herself each night.”

It had been a custom for royal children to attend Gordonstoun in Scotland, a leading boarding school and one of the UK’s top independent schools.
