Kate Middleton’s favourite 53p snack lowers cholesterol and ‘stops ageing’

Kate Middleton has long provided a source of inspiration for royal fans looking for a healthy lifestyle.

The Princess of Wales has been open in her love for nutritious superfoods over the years – as well as her sporty passions. With Kate now in remission from cancer and returning to royal duties, her choices are being scrutinised even more than usual as people bid to follow her lead and ensure they follow a diet that will provide all their nutritional needs, keep their physical appearance tip top, and give them an energy boost.

Last week we reported Kate, 43, was looking healthy and happy as she headed back to the hospital she was treated at. The mum of three made an emotional return to the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea, west London, where she had undergone chemotherapy last year, to thank the medical staff and offer encouragement to those currently receiving cancer treatment.

HELLO Magazine previously took a deep dive into the future Queen’s favourite foods to eat, and found one of her go to healthy snacks.

And, it’s reported Kate chooses to eat raw fruits, including goji berries, rather than processed sweet treats.

This popular fruit, reports Surrey Live, originates from China, and can be consumed in various ways-raw, dried, or cooked. Some people like to blend the superfood into delicious smoothies with other fruit and veg or they can be eaten like sweets, without the worry. And the best bit? A packet of dried goji berries can be purchased from Asda for a mere £1.50. The 100g pack provides three servings, equating to approximately 53p per 33g portion.

Goji berries, known for their unique sweet and sour taste, are packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids

They are thought to slow down ageing signs and promote good eye health.

A study conducted in 2021 suggested that regular consumption of goji berries during middle age could decrease the risk of age-related macular degeneration.

Packed with antioxidants, goji berries are a superfood that can help fend off oxidative stress and protect skin cells from age-related damage, while also enhancing the skin’s look.

Healthline reported that these berries are rich in iron, a vital mineral for oxygen transport and red blood cell production.

Goji berries have been linked to cholesterol reduction and improved heart health, as highlighted by an expert in a BBC Good Food article: “Long term consumption of goji berries has been shown to decrease LDL cholesterol and help in the prevention of cardiovascular disease.”

The piece references research indicating that polysaccharides found in goji berries could help manage blood pressure and lower harmful cholesterol, offering protection for the heart. However, some individuals should exercise caution when eating these vibrant red berries.

According to Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, the Princess of Wales has a fondness for them, which he claims makes her skin glow.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise, given that avocados are rich in nutrients, healthy fats, protein, and vitamins and minerals. In fact, the princess’s love for avocados was first hinted at in 2017, when Prince William was given one as a gift while on royal duties, with the expectation that Catherine would appreciate it.

At the time, Prince William expressed his gratitude, saying: “I’ve never been given an avocado before. That’s really sweet of you. Catherine will love the avocado.”
