Despite her reputation for elegance at public events, Princess Kate‘s early-morning routine is surprisingly modest, says an ex-royal staffer.
The Princess of Wales, a mother of three celebrated for her flawless skin and impeccable presentation, adheres to a simple set of rules each morning: avoiding mobile phones, using minimal skincare products, and cherishing a moment of quiet.
Former Royal cleaner Anne Simmons, who has over a decade of experience in the Royal household, disclosed Kate’s relatable approach to mornings. “She’s incredibly organised. No chaos, no luxury overload – just a handful of carefully chosen steps that she clearly trusts,” stated Anne in a conversation with Edit Suits.
Kate shuns an extravagant array of beauty products each day, opting instead for a ritual emphasising simplicity and steadiness. “There was one product for her hair, a natural moisturiser, and always a moment to herself before things got busy,” divulged Anne.
While efficient, Kate’s morning routine reflects intelligent, effective choices. Dermatologist Dr Laura Bennett from the UK delves into Kate’s alleged regimen, reports the Mirror.
Using cold water upon waking
Kate reportedly begins her day by splashing her face with cold water, not relying on upscale toners or serums. “Cold water can help reduce morning puffiness and stimulate circulation,” said Dr Bennett.
“It gives skin a refreshed look without relying on anything artificial.”
Managing hair care
Kate Middleton swears by The Ordinary’s 100 percent Organic Cold-Pressed Moroccan Argan Oil for her hair, according to Anne. “She’d work a little through the ends of her hair after brushing,” she reveals.
Dr Bennett explains: “Argan oil is packed with vitamin E and essential fatty acids. It helps fight frizz, protect from heat styling, and gives natural shine. It’s a fantastic all-in-one for hair health.”
Using moisturiser
Despite having access to the world’s most luxurious products, Kate reportedly favours a simple white tube of fragrance-free moisturiser. “It wasn’t a flashy luxury brand – just effective and consistent,” Anne notes.
“Using a light, fragrance-free moisturiser helps strengthen the skin barrier, prevents dryness, and gives that subtle, healthy glow she’s known for,” adds Dr Bennett.
No phone
Interestingly, one of Kate’s biggest beauty secrets doesn’t involve skincare at all. Each morning, she takes five minutes to herself, simply sitting by a window with a cup of tea and no distractions.
“She’d often sit by the window with a cup of tea for five minutes. No phone, just silence,” Anne recalls, “It’s her moment of calm before the madness of the day.”
“This kind of quiet, tech-free time first thing in the morning helps regulate cortisol levels and reduce stress,” Dr. Bennett explains, “It’s great for mental clarity – and skin health too.”
Natural makeup
Kate Middleton’s ‘barely-there’ makeup is not just about looking effortless; it’s a deliberate choice for natural beauty. Anne, a source close to Kate, shares insight on her minimalist approach: “She wasn’t doing a full face,” adding that what she does use is “Just concealer, maybe a bit of blush. It was very quick and natural-looking.”
Dr Bennett also weighs in, explaining the benefits of minimal makeup: “Less makeup allows the skin to breathe and reduces clogged pores,” which contributes to Kate’s perennially fresh complexion.
Consistency
The key, as Anne points out, lies in the consistency of Kate’s skincare regime: “There weren’t dozens of serums or constant new products. Her routine didn’t change. That’s why it works.”
A representative from Edit Suits confirms the effectiveness of Kate’s simple but steadfast approach, saying: “Kate’s morning routine shows that looking your best isn’t about excess – it’s about consistency. It’s reassuring to see that even royalty stick to simple habits that genuinely work. Her look may be polished, but the process is refreshingly grounded.”
