Prince William and King Charles III share a deep bond as father and son but, like any relationship, they have their differences. These moments of friction reportedly arise due to their differing approaches to royal duties, particularly as Prince William steps into an increasingly active role as heir to the throne.
According to royal experts, it often falls to Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, to mediate and restore harmony between the two.
As Prince William takes on additional responsibilities in light of King Charles‘ health challenges, his distinct leadership style occasionally clashes with his father’s. Royal expert Helena Chard explains that while William and Charles share mutual respect, their differing perspectives sometimes lead to tension.
“Father and son don’t always see eye to eye,” Chard told Fox News Digital.
Kate Middleton serves as a steadying influence during these disagreements, utilizing her emotional intelligence and focus on solutions.
“She is certainly the glue between Prince William and King Charles III,” Chard added.
The monarch, who has a close bond with his daughter-in-law, greatly admires her ability to navigate family dynamics. Chard notes that Charles is “extremely proud” of Middleton, recognizing her empathy, resilience, and ability to bring people together.
Middleton’s importance within the royal family goes beyond her role as Prince William‘s wife and the future Queen Consort. Royal author Robert Jobson describes her as “emotionally mature” and someone who strives to see all sides of any disagreement.
In his book Catherine, the Princess of Wales, Jobson quoted a royal insider who highlighted her positive influence on the family.
“I think the [King] understands Catherine is a good influence on the entire family. He loves and truly appreciates everything she does,” the insider noted.
Christopher Andersen, author of The King, echoed these sentiments, describing Kate as “tough-minded” and a “realist.” He credits these traits as key to her thriving within the complex royal family.
