Ludacris’ performance lit up Nylon’s Miami bash.
The exclusive party, held at “Real Housewives of Miami” star Lenny Hochstein’s Star Island mansion, saw a heavy police presence and the fire marshal due to new Art Week regulations requiring large-scale parties at private homes to follow strict occupancy limits and noise restrictions.
But that didn’t kill the vibe at the over-the-top bash where Ludacris performed favorites like “Area Codes” and “What’s Your Fantasy” during a raucous performance.
A-listers like “Havana” singer Camila Cabello, Janelle Monae and DJ John Summit were present at the event.
After thirty minutes of hits, a fire marshal took the stage, causing onlookers to believe Ludacris’ set was was being halted. However, we’re told it was all according to plan and the rapper had played his allotted time.
A Nylon spokesperson tells us “Ludacris hit the stage on time at 11pm and was having so much fun that he extended his performance to over 45 minutes and the party went on until well after midnight, with partygoers enjoying everything the e.l.f. sponsored bash had to offer.”
It is the famous rapper’s first time in the city for Art Basel and he had some advice for would-be collectors: get the houses; then, decorate them.
“I just started collecting art,” he told Page Six exclusively.
“I wanted to focus on it after focusing on real estate. You have to buy all the houses first before you get the art for them.”
“I love all the creative energy that comes to the city,” Ludacris — donning a custom $50,000 diamond Movado watch — told us of being in town during the high-profile event. “I don’t love the traffic, but I love all the creatives and all the art.”
While regular partygoers got caught in upwards of an hour’s worth of traffic to get to the party, with many walking across the bridge to the exclusive island, Ludacris planned in advance.
“We took the water,” he told us. “It took us ten minutes. We were smart. We thought ahead.”
A source tells us organizers were delighted that — in a week where traffic has pushed back schedules and waits for Ubers are around a half an hour — he wasn’t just punctual, but made it there early.
