Major Kate update as Prince William makes special plans after ‘brutal year’

The Princess of Wales will celebrate her 43rd birthday this week and her husband is set to pull out all the stops to ‘spoil her rotten’, according to an expert.

It’s been a difficult year for Kate following her cancer diagnosis and subsequent chemotherapy treatment. As such she will be looking forward to a ‘new and happier’ 2025 – and her birthday on Thursday provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “This birthday is going to be memorable in so many ways – it will mark the start of a new and hopefully happier year and the end of one that has been brutal for the whole family.”

Discussing what Prince William likely has in store for his wife, she added: “For her husband and children, this will be an excuse to spoil her rotten and, even though it falls on a school day, I’m sure that’s exactly what they’ll do.”

Jennie continued: “I imagine they will shower her with gifts – perhaps some pampering products like luxurious bath oils and scented candles. Maybe William will buy her some silk pyjamas or cashmere jumpers – things that are soft on skin [after] treatment.”

And the future King might even take to the kitchen to spoil his wife. “Even though he says he’s not a very good cook, Catherine did tell Mary Berry that he’s quite good at breakfasts so maybe a tray – complete with a rose – will arrive early for her,” the expert suggested.

It comes after William, Kate, and their three children head back to Windsor after enjoying their Christmas break at Anmer Hall in Norfolk on the Sandringham Estate.

The new term at Lambrook school begins for Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis on Wednesday and the family have returned to nearby Adelaide Cottage home in order for the trio to be ready for their classes.

Along with her children’s return to school, Kate is also gearing up for the two-year anniversary of her Shaping Us campaign, and her mum Carole’s milestone 70th birthday on January 31.

It is not yet known how Carole will celebrate her big day, but in the past, she has marked such occasions abroad.

For her 60th in 2015, the Middleton matriarch enjoyed a memorable celebration on the private Caribbean Island of Mustique, reportedly featuring pink champagne, a jazz band, and fireworks.

Carole previously reflected on how much she loves the start of the year in a post shared on the Party Pieces social media account, a party planning business she and her husband founded.

“It’s no surprise I’ve learned to love January; it’s the start of a new year, a time to put healthy habits in place, and it’s my birthday month — so there’s every good reason to celebrate with loved ones!” she shared.
