Suits actress Meghan Markle is thought to have seen sister-in-law Kate Middleton as “too much [of] a goody-two-shoes girl.”
The Duchess of Sussex is said to have felt the Princess of Wales was “eager to please,” and she took a different view. At one time the two women appeared to be tight knit before a rift in the royal family seemed to appear driving the women apart and no longer seeming close.
The difficulties between the two royal women have been detailed by royal expert Tom Quinn, who revealed the insider secrets as part of his book, Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants.
The book, which is being serialized in The Times, reveals Meghan thought Kate was “just too eager to please.” Quinn wrote: “All the royal staff I spoke to agreed that Meghan must have felt she was slightly looked down on by the courtiers.

“Some people can cope with this — Kate Middleton is perhaps the supreme example — but others try to fight back, which is what Meghan clearly did. ‘You’ve got to hand it to her,’ a former member of her staff said. ‘She really is a fighter.'”
The book also detailed the tensions between Meghan and Kate, as Quinn adds that palace sources say initially Kate and husband Prince William found Meghan to be “delightful.”
However Meghan and Kate’s relationship became tense over time and are thought to have had disagreements. Prince Harry detailed tensions around his and Meghan’s 2018 wedding, with a fallout over bridesmaid dresses between Meghan and Kate.
Writing in his memoir Spare, he revealed personal text messages exchanged between Meghan and Kate amid the disagreement over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress. According to Harry, Princess Kate messaged Meghan to complain that the Charlotte’s dress did not fit correctly. According to the book, Kate wrote: “Charlotte’s dress is too big, too long, too baggy. She cried when she tried it on a home.”

After an exchange back and forth where Meghan pointed out there was a tailor on standby to alter dresses for the bridesmaids, Kate’s cool response reportedly left the future Duchess of Sussex upset and Meghan was reportedly left “sobbing on the floor.”
Away from family fallouts and tension, Meghan and Harry are spending Valentine’s Day apart, but that didn’t stop the Duchess of Sussex from sharing a loved up photograph to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Writing on Instagram, Meghan told followers that she misses her husband as she announced she returned to California while he is still back in Canada for the remaining days of the Invictus Games. Alongside the social media post is a black and white of them sitting together at a restaurant and sweetly kissing the each other. They are both smiling into the kiss as Meghan rests her hand on Harry’s cheek.
Captioning the post, the Suits actress wrote: “Back home taking care of our babies, and missing my Valentine, as he continues on at the Invictus Games, changing lives and reminding all of us of the power of healing and resilience through these incredible veterans and their families. Beyond proud of my husband and what he’s created.
“My love, I will eat burgers & fries and fish & chips with you forever. Thank you for you. #lovewins,” Meghan concludes as she signs, “As ever, M.”
