Prince William and Kate Middleton escape to Mustique amid cancer recovery

The Prince and Princess of Wales, accompanied by their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, have taken a private retreat to the Caribbean island of Mustique.

Their decision to step away from the public eye comes after Kate Middleton‘s ongoing recovery from cancer treatment. The trip also meant they missed the prestigious BAFTA Awards, an event Prince William traditionally attends as the organization’s president.

The royal family reportedly flew to Mustique on February 13, coinciding with their children’s half-term break from Lambrook School. Known for its exclusivity and high-profile visitors, Mustique has long been a favored destination for celebrities seeking privacy.

The island, part of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, has previously hosted figures such as Mick Jagger, Daniel Craig, and Kate Moss.

According to Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, extensive security measures ensure privacy for VIP guests.

“A no-fly zone is enforced when high-profile individuals, including royalty, are staying on the island to prevent drones from capturing unauthorized images,” Seward explained.

“Kate is incredibly protective of her children’s privacy, which limits the family’s holiday options. Mustique provides the seclusion and security they need.”

The island also has its own security team, led by former Scotland Yard Chief Simon Humphrey, ensuring that all visitors-whether guests, staff, or locals-are registered before arrival.

This level of security allows high-profile figures like the Wales family to relax without concerns over media intrusion.

Kate Middleton‘s recent health struggles have been a significant factor in their decision to take a private holiday.

Following her abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis, she has taken a step back from royal duties to focus on recovery. Seward highlighted that Prince William was eager to take his wife somewhere warm and peaceful.

The family has previously stayed at Villa Antilles, a luxurious £33,000-per-week residence featuring five bedrooms, a private infinity pool, and a full staff, including a chef and butler.

Past visits to Mustique have seen the couple enjoying tennis, snorkeling, and sunset dinners at the exclusive Cotton House resort.

While royal fans may have hoped to see the couple at the BAFTAs, their absence reflects their priority, ensuring Kate‘s health and well-being while spending quality time with their children.

Given the island’s strict security, it is unlikely that any images of their trip will surface, allowing them to enjoy a rare moment of uninterrupted privacy.
