Prince William and Prince Harry may have been in a brotherly feud for a few years now, however this was not always the case between the siblings.
Before Harry, 40, quit royal life in 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle and jetted overseas to America, the brothers shared a close bond, with William being one of the first people that found out about Meghan’s first pregnancy with son Archie.
While the brothers no longer talk since the release of Harry’s bombshell memoir Spare in 2023, where Harry accused William of attacking him, they were once very supportive of one another, and according to Harry, William was happy to find out he was going to become an uncle.
At the wedding of their cousin Princess Eugenie in October 2018, Harry revealed in Spare that he told William the news of Meghan’s pregnancy, which was met with a four-word response.
After hearing the news, the Prince of Wales reportedly gave a sweet four-word rersponse: “We must tell Kate.”
Writing about the special moment in Spare, Harry said: “Euge was getting married, to Jack, and we were deliriously happy for her, and for ourselves, selfishly, since Jack was one of our favourite people.
“Meg and I were supposed to head off on our first official foreign tour as a married couple, but we delayed the departure several days, so we could be at the wedding. Also, the various gatherings connected to the wedding would give us a chance to pull aside family members one by one and tell them our good news.
“After the drinks reception, in St George’s Hall, Meg and I pulled Willy aside. We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls.
“Strange room, strange moment. We whispered the news, and Willy smiled and said we must tell Kate. She was across the room, talking to Pippa. I said we could do it later, but he insisted. So we went and told Kate and she also gave a big smile and hearty congratulations. They both reacted exactly as I’d hoped.”
Prince Archie was then born on May 6 2019, much to the delight of the Royal Family. However, less than a year later, the young prince relocated to America with his parents, Harry and Meghan, after they stepped back from royal life.
He is believed to have seen his royal relatives very few times since.
In America, where the couple have lived for five years in a Montecito mansion, Harry and Meghan also welcomed their second child, Princess Lilibet, in 2021. It is believed the young royal has visited the UK just once.
The family have shown no signs of wanting to move back to the UK, with Harry saying just last month that he was “grateful” to be raising his children in America.
