Festive, flirty, back for the grass-fed fillet mignon—it’s date night for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Now that the Eras tour is well and truly wrapped and the Chiefs have a super-short break before play-offs, that means nights out in New York wearing complementary fits. And with that, there could also be some Swiftian sartorial Easter eggs of which Kelce is an accessory.
Swift and Kelce stepped out for a double date night on Friday (December 27) with friend and producer Jack Antonoff and his wife, The Substance actor Margaret Qualley, in a move that saw fans begin to speculate a little deeper with their outfits once again.
Swift defaulted to some of her favorite brands for the occasion: a Stella McCartney crystal chain-linked blazer and platform boots by Versace, as well as a crystal Versace handbag from its Medusa line. Swift has shown a lot of love for Versace’s Medusa collection. She’s worn the brand’s La Medusa sandals for a gala evening, and wore the Medusa bustier from Versace for a bold double denim look at the Chiefs vs Ravens game in Kansas City in September. Then in October, she had another bustier moment, wearing the Medusa corset top with suited pants and a tailored trench for a play on womens and menswear. The Medusa figure from Greek mythology is an emblem of female rage, with serpents for hair. We all know Swift likes to incorporate Easter eggs into her looks to tease new music, and as fans have long speculated, with the images of snakes and scorned women, this could be yet another sartorial hint at a forthcoming Reputation (Taylor’s Version) launch.
The last year has been rife with rumors of the new dawning of a Reputation era. This goes all the way back to her custom green sequined Gucci dress that she wore to the 2024 Golden Globes—green, serpent skin-like, come on! And across the last 12 months, any outfits that incorporate the color green, snakes, and plaid have been viewed as a visual hint at Reputation. As a quick 101 for the uninitiated, the snake image became central to Reputation’s narrative in response to the harassment she endured in 2016 when Kim Kardashian implied that the singer was a snake following the drama around Kanye West’s song “Famous” with a snake emoji. She has since reclaimed it as an image of strength, and a visual shorthand for what was then her grittiest and darkest album.
At her side, Kelce wore a similarly toned knit cardigan and brown shiny slacks. Swift and Kelce were dressed to dine out with Antonoff and Qualley at BondST Restaurant in NoHo, New York. It’s likely they’ll spend the last few days of the festive break here before Kelce’s next game on January 5.
