Shortly after Travis Kelce set the Kansas City Chiefs record for most career passing touchdowns, Taylor Swift broke her silence about the achievement by liking two Instagram posts congratulating her boyfriend.
Swift liked a post from the Chiefs account and a post from New Heights , the podcast co-hosted by Travis and Jason Kelce , expressing appreciation for her boyfriend’s monumental achievement.
Swift wasn’t at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh to witness history, choosing to spend Christmas Day elsewhere.
Kelce surpassed edge rusher Tony Gonzalez’s record of 76 points, with his 77th point helping him clinch the AFC’s No. 1 seed in the postseason as the Chiefs now hold a 15-1 record.
To slightly detract from the record-breaking catch, Kelce was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct for dunking the ball over the upright, Gonzalez’s signature celebration.
Later in the comments, commentator Ian Eagle said of the track, ‘I think he’s ready,’ referring to Swift’s 2017 song ‘…Ready For It?’.
Swift hasn’t been to a Chiefs game this season outside of Kansas City, her last trip to see Kelce play outside of Missouri was this year’s Super Bowl.
The 35-year-old also made his 1,000th career catch, putting Kelce third all-time, well behind Gonzalez and former Cowboys star Jason Witten on that list.
Gonzalez still trails Kelce in that category with 1,325 career receptions. Witten is in the middle of the Chiefs legends with 1,228 catches.
It looks like it will be a few more weeks before Swift gets the chance to see Kelce perform live.
The Chiefs will close out the regular season away in Denver next Sunday, with Kelce expected to see limited playing time as the AFC’s No. 1 seed has already been determined.
As the No. 1 seed, the Chiefs are exempt from the Wild Card round, putting Kansas City’s next available game on January 18 or 19, when their opponent will have home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
