The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, were the picture of happiness during their Christmas festivities at Sandringham this Wednesday. The Royal couple, who have married for 13 years, devoted time to engage with the public after the Christmas Day church service, receiving an array of presents, including beautiful flower arrangements for the Duchess.
However, not all of Kate’s past Christmas gifts have hit the mark, and one particular present from her then-boyfriend Prince William did not go down well at all. This came to light when William was a guest on Peter Crouch’s BBC Radio Five Live podcast, as reported by The Mirror and the Express.
The pair reminisced about gifting blunders they had made to their other halves. William admitted: “I did get my wife a pair of binoculars once – she’s never let me forget that.
“That was early on in the courtship that was – I think that sealed the deal. It didn’t go well. Honestly, I have no idea why I bought her a pair of binoculars. It seemed like a good idea at the time.”
While it remains a mystery what presents William bestowed upon the Princess this year, the couple appeared to be in high spirits on Christmas Day, accompanied by their children Prince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, nine, and Prince Louis, six. The family of five celebrated the day at Sandringham on December 25, hosted by the King and Queen Camilla, but are thought to have headed to their nearby residence, Amner Hall, following the festivities.
The gifts received by the three children remain unknown, yet they were all grinning as they accepted chocolates and teddy bears from members of the public after a Christmas Day church service. Princess Charlotte was also seen carrying roses gifted to her by well wishers.
The family is not anticipated to make any further public appearances during the festive period.
