Good news has finally befallen Kate Middleton as she announced earlier this week that she was finally in remission from her cancer.
The Princess of Wales had undergone preventive chemotherapy for her cancer diagnosis last year and scaled back her royal duties as she recovered.
The mother of three is ready to add more public appearances into her mix this year as she is on the mend. However, despite not returning to her duties fully “anytime soon,” according to a Daily Mail source, Kate is still back in action and is making a gradual return to engagements.
Now that she is remission, royal fans will possibly be seeing her at a myriad of upcoming events. On January 14, she shared the great news on social media post, writing, “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focussed on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
Next month, she is set to appear at the BAFTAs at London’s Royal Festival Hall alongside husband Prince William. The Prince of Wales is the academy’s president and has often attended the awards ceremony with Kate.
An insider told the Daily Mail that the BAFTA organization is “throwing everything at securing” Kate’s presence.
“BAFTA has close ties with William and Kate and is pulling out all the stops to try to secure Kate’s presence at this year’s awards,” the source said.
“It sent her warmest wishes when she revealed her cancer diagnosis and hopes she will appear alongside William in what will be her big showbiz return since she’s been in recovery.”
“We have been told that she wouldn’t want to miss it, so she’s hoping to be there with William,” they divulged. “Anything Bafta can do to work around Kate, it will do.” The Duchess of Cambridge first attended the show in 2017.
Another event that she could make a surprise appearance at later this year is in June for Trooping the Colour, King Charles’ official annual birthday parade.
She has attended the bash annually alongside William and their three kids, Prince Louis, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, often appearing on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to see the adoring crowds in previous years.
Kate is making her health a major priority in 2025, and another source told the Mail that she has “returned to doing the school drop-off, attending sports fixtures, taking the children to play dates and tennis lessons and even going back to the gym to build up her strength.” She also does not have any foreign tours on her docket currently.
But fans can hope she will make sporadic surprise pop-ups at different events throughout the year.
In December 2024, she made one of her first major appearances since her recovery at her annual Christmas Carol concert. She joined the Firm at Westminster Abbey for festive evening of joy and music.
On Tuesday, the Duchess visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in London to meet patients. The engagement was her first solo event since late 2023. The hospital was also the same place where she underwent treatment for her own illness.
