On Sunday, celebrities walked the red carpet for the BAFTA Film Awards, but the Prince and Princess of Wales did not make an appearance at the ceremony. The royal couple have attended regularly since 2011, with their last appearance together being in 2023.
In 2024, Prince William attended by himself, as he has served as president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts since 2010. At the time, Kate Middleton was recovering from abdominal surgery. Ahead of this year’s event, the palace announced the couple would not be attending, but did not offer a reason.
However, it is a busy time and People reports that Valentine’s Day was the final day of school for their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, before their half-term break. The family was then seen on private island Mustique, in the Caribbean, according to The Mail on Sunday. It was reported they may have been joined by Kate Middleton’s mother, Carole, and that they first flew into St. Lucia.

On February 12, the Prince did attend an associated event at the London Screen Academy in north London to meet film students and other members of the film industry. While at the event, he spoke with senior representatives from BAFTA and the LSA board about opportunities for young people in entertainment, sharing in comments that ‘film star essence… is so distant from reality,’ adding, ‘It feels a lot of people don’t know that they can be in the film industry.’

In 2023, Kate Middleton wore a white gown by Alexander McQueen with an asymmetrical neckline that she had previously worn in 2019, and a pair of black opera gloves and gold earrings from Zara for accessories.
The Princess of Wales’s last official appearance took place on February 11, attending an Action For Children event at the maternal ward at the prison, HMP Styal, in Wilmslow.
