Prince William and Prince Harry were named the Royal Family’s top coffee drinkers by an ex-staffer who revealed what the brothers would likely order during a trip to Starbucks.
Grant Harrold, who worked as a butler for King Charles between 2004 and 2011, revealed the Royal Family’s coffee habits and weigned in on what the two brother’s would usually get if they were to visit a coffee shop.
He said that while the Prince of Wales and Duke of Sussex are not massive coffee fans, they, alongside Queen Camilla, are the only members of the Royal Family who would get a cup of coffee in the Palace.
Speaking on behalf of Coffee Friend, he said: “Queen Camilla is fond of a cup of coffee, as are William and Harry. I never heard any of them say they couldn’t live without coffee.
“But Camilla, William and Harry are the ones who love coffee the most within the Royal family.
“The late Queen famously liked her tea, and it was rare for her to ever drink coffee. The King also likes tea and honey.”
Elsewhere, the former royal butler revealed that when they would drink coffee in the palace, they would never drink it from a mug but a demi cup or a teacup and saucer instead.
He said: “I wouldn’t say they wouldn’t have coffee in a mug – but they would probably have it in a demi cup instead of a mug after dinner.
“During the day, they would have a teacup with a saucer. They were always offered milk and sugar after the coffee was poured. That is the correct etiquette for drinking coffee.”
Mr Harrold also revealed what the two brothers would order if they made a trip to Starbucks.
He revealed: “I think it’s safe to say I never saw the King or Queen pop to Starbucks during my time as the King’s butler!
“I’m sure William, Meghan and Harry wouldn’t turn down a trip, though. I’m guessing they would opt for a flat white or a nice cappuccino!”
During a visit to Cornwall in 2022, William’s coffee habits were evident after he revealed he had a few cups of coffee during the day.
In a nutrition sheet detailing his full intake for that day, the prince said he’d had two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter, apple juice and a cup of tea with milk and sugar for breakfast, the “rubbish sandwich” and a glass of water for lunch, an evening meal of white fish with mushroom, a banana and chocolate brownie as snacks and two to three cups of coffee and a glass of red wine.
Elsewhere, he revealed he prefers tea to coffee as it “peps him up”.
