Inside Kansas City’s Ultra-Luxury Home of NFL Star Patrick Mahomes

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been rather busy on the football field, with a second Super Bowl win in 2023. But he’s also been quite busy investing in real estate, with a reported four properties to his name now.

His first Kansas City property purchase was a two-bedroom condo in December 2017, followed by the 2019 purchase of a home in Kansas City, Missouri’s Country Club District. The understated contemporary ranch is up for sale as of June 2023 now that his third property within Kansas City’s Loch Lloyd Country Club community is built. And let’s not forget about the fourth $3.37 million mansion he purchased in Westlake, Texas.

image

While it’s very likely the football star spends time between at least a few of these properties, we’re going to take a look inside the one that’s now up for sale for about $3 million. After all, it’s the one that he and his wife brought both their children home to when they were born.

Come take a tour of this Kansas City pad.

He Has Owned It Since 2019

image

Mahomes purchased the house in 2019 for around $1.75 million to $1.9 million (records don’t say the exact price), almost exactly one year before he led the Chiefs to victory in the 2020 Super Bowl.

The house is 4,343 square feet with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

It sits on a 1.4-acre lot by the Country Club District.

The Fireplace Is Awesome

image

The house was built in 1953 and has mid-century modern bones. It has an open floor plan with some built-in cabinetry and floor-to-ceiling windows.

Swanky stone fireplaces are located in the master bedroom, both living rooms and another area. The main living room has a 1950s’ Art Deco-like fireplace that looks like something that could have served as a backdrop for Don Draper.

Mahomes and Brittany Spent $400,000 Renovating It

image

According to property records, about $400,000 has been poured into updating the nearly 70-year-old house, and we know Mahomes and Brittany did the renovations.

Listing records say the home has only been sold twice in the last 18 years, and that includes the sale to Mahomes.

They Like the Idea of Homeownership

image

“It’s cool just to have our own house where we can grow into, and so this is definitely a big step in our life,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report.

“Renting a house wasn’t for us. We wanted our own place.”

It’s A Step Up From Renting

image

Owning it brought a sense of freedom to the two, who had lived in apartments or rented homes before.

“Just being able to nail stuff into the wall and not have to get, like, the sticky tabs — like, you can do whatever you want with the home now,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report.

The Kitchen Is Fantastic

image

The kitchen is a mid-century modern style, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows and a range hood that is built into the ceiling.

It’s a very cool design, although we wonder if it can catch all the smoke properly.

The Home Is Close to Arrowhead Stadium

image

Mahomes’ pad is a short drive away to the Mission Hills Country Club and about 9 miles away from Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chiefs practice and host their home games.

Mahomes’ Diet Plan Isn’t Too Strict

image

Mahomes’ diet isn’t as strict as say, the diet of Tom Brady, who doesn’t eat nightshades (tomatoes, eggplants) because they’re not anti-inflammatory. Nor does Brady drink coffee, have caffeine, or eat fungus or dairy.

Mahomes has said he doesn’t count calories, eats four to five meals a day and is known to have a barbecue rib sandwich and fries from local Kansas City eateries.

And he likes Chick-fil-A burrito bowls and chicken biscuits.

Moving in With His High School Sweetheart

image

Mahomes was born in Tyler, Texas, and attended Whitehouse High School in the small city of Whitehouse, Texas. In 10th grade, he met Matthews.

She and he became a couple and have remained together ever since.

He proposed to Matthews on Sept. 9, 2020, at Arrowhead Stadium.

Four of Brittany’s Engagement Rings Would Rival the Price of This Home

image

Reportedly, the engagement ring Mahomes purchased for his longtime high school sweetheart had an 8- to 10-carat emerald-cut diamond ring planted on a diamond-encrusted band.

It’s rumored to be worth between $350,000 and $800,000.

If the ring cost $500,000, that’s about a fourth of the price of this house.

There’s a Wet Bar

image

He can afford it, of course, because Mahomes is the holder of a 10-year, $503 million contract, which is the largest contract in NFL history.

It’s also the second-largest contract in the history of sports. Only soccer legend Lionel Messi has a bigger one. He signed a $673.9 million deal with FC Barcelona in 2017.

The Wet Bar Holds the TV

image

The couple kept the wet bar and its built-in storage, and for good reason.

Those cabinets aren’t for storing booze, they hide a large flat-screen television.

A Lot Can Change in Six Years

image

Mahomes was a triple-threat athlete in high school, where he played football, baseball and basketball. During his senior year, Mahomes threw a 16-strikeout no-hitter.

It’s crazy to think that was the 2013-2014 year, and that Mahomes would go on to win a Super Bowl just six short years later.

Their Growing Family

image

The two announced in September 2020 that a baby girl was on the way in this touching birth announcement.

(We told you about the ring, right?)

Perfect for Events

image

The house proved to be the perfect setting for the couple’s baby shower in late 2020.

Making Way for Baby

Sterling Skye was born on Feb. 20, 2021, just a few weeks after her dad played in his second Super Bowl.

Let’s just say she seems to like the house, too.

Meet Steel and Silver

image

And let’s not forget about the couple’s two fur babies — a pitbull named Steel (left) and a Cane Corso named Silver.

The dogs have their very own Instagram.

Steel Likes to Watch TV

image

Steel, seen here with Mahomes watching some TV on the couch, was a 2016 gift to Brittany.

Interestingly, Mahomes used to be afraid of dogs. “Until I was in high school,” Mahomes told The Kansas City Star. “Then I went straight to a pit bull.”

Now in love with the blocky-headed breed, he’s an advocate for them, spreading the word that they’re not inherently malicious.

Another Look at Steel (and the Living Room)

Steel, seen here carrying a sloth dog toy, peers out over a plush leather couch.

It looks like the couple kept the fireplace poker set stationed by the hearth, although they opted to put a dog kennel in the corner where a chest once stood.

Kisses in the Kitchen

image

The dogs are even allowed on the kitchen counter because who doesn’t need a canine sous chef?

Chilling in the Corner Office

Brittany carved out a spot for a corner office in the living room, near the television. This time it appears that Silver has taken over the workplace and is set to max out the couple’s credit cards on Chewy.com.

Also, you can get your dogs’ photos printed on a box of Milk Bones like this couple did.

Or maybe that was Silver’s work.

Saving Up for a New House

image

One of the reasons why people love Mahomes is because he seems like a pretty down-to-earth guy.

Before Mahomes signed that record-breaking contract, and while Mahomes was in his rookie year, he and Brittany were living in an upstairs guest bedroom in Brittany’s father’s house to save some money.

Before: The Closet

image

The couple’s closet is perhaps their most beloved space.

It’s actually the same closet shown in the old listing photos, but it’s been renovated and expanded to the couple’s taste.

After: The Closet

image

“We renovated a lot of the house. The last thing was the shoe room,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report. “That has been something that I’ve been wanting for the last six, seven years at least.”

The new shoe room has lighted shelving and holds at least 180 pairs of kicks — which is exactly the number that Mahomes stopped collecting shoes.

He’ll Never Forget About His Shoes Now

image

“When you don’t have enough room, I feel like you lose the value of some of your shoes,” Mahomes said. “Some of the shoes that you’ve worn once, you forget about cuz you don’t see ’em.”

Not exactly a relatable problem for most folks, but most folks don’t have a $500 million contract.

His Favorite Shoes? The Yeezy Triple Black 750s

image

“These right here, these are my babies,” Mahomes told Bleacher Report, pulling a pair of Yeezy Triple Black 750s from a lighted shelf.

These Adidas shoes were made in conjunction with Kanye West and sell for an average of $1,100, according to Stock X data.

Each Pair Can Be Worn Twice a Year

image

With 180 pairs of shoes, Mahomes says he can wear one pair about twice a year.

Don’t Think About Walking Off With His Shoes

image

There’s also a camera in the closet, which Mahomes claimed was for watching his brother, Jackson Mahomes, when he visited. “That way, I can look and make sure all my shoes are still here,” he said.

Jackson is a star on TikTok, where he has over 1.1 million followers.

Brittany Likes the Closet, Too

Brittany is also a huge fan of the closet, which she often used as a backdrop for Instagram shots that help promote her company, Brittany Lynne Fitness, which provides online training and fitness classes.

She also has a partnership with Balance Athletica.

There’s a Display Space for Sunglasses, Too

image

Mahomes loves sunglasses and was the first NFL player to sign an endorsement deal with Oakley in 2019.

Fast-forward to early 2021, and now Mahomes has his own line of Oakley sunglasses.

They look similar to the ones on the second shelf from the top and retail for $196.

There Are Four Fireplaces

The home has four fireplaces in total.

This one isn’t featured in the old listing photos, but it can be seen on Brittany’s Instagram.

Must Love Dogs

image

The couple absolutely loves their dogs, and they are in good hands. Steel, the pit bull, was diagnosed with epilepsy.

“After tons of testing and procedures my baby boy has been diagnosed with epilepsy!” wrote Brittany on Instagram. “He is on medicine now and we are going to begin giving him CBD oils to hopefully help eliminate seizures and any stress or anxiety! While this won’t change his life in any way, I will just be keeping a close eye on him and will continue giving him the spoiled life he deserves! He is going to be okay and that is all that matters to me.”

Room for the Dogs

Brittany says the home’s spacious yard was probably the “biggest thing for us” because the dogs have room to play.

Here, Silver takes a big jump to grab a ball, while Steel looks on with a worried face.

They Chose Kansas City Over Texas

image

The couple originally planned to spend the offseason renting an Airbnb while shopping for a house in Texas, according to GQ. But then they saw this house, and Mahomes decided to just go for it.

GQ interviewed Mahomes just a week after the two had moved in during the summer of 2020.

There’s a Wine Cellar

image

Mahomes and Brittany spent the offseason lockdown days here, so we’re sure they put the wine cellar to good use, even after considering Mahomes’ offseason workout routines.

Mahomes’ schedule? He woke up at 7 a.m., worked out at 9 a.m. for two-and-a-half hours, then headed to lunch and sometimes a virtual meeting with his teammates. Then, he played video games from noon till 2 p.m. But during the football season, he stays away from video games entirely.

Before: The Gym

image

They also renovated and expanded the gym area (or moved its location entirely), which is large enough for professional-grade equipment and at least one Peloton bike. Mahomes’ screen name is 2PM.

“I’m so damn competitive that I kill myself,” he told GQ. “I see the leaderboard, and I see that, like, Brian from North Carolina is catching me, and I’m like: ‘There’s no way.’”

After: The Gym

image

Brittany also put the couple’s home gym to good use.

It’s where she filmed most of the workout videos that she posted to her Instagram.

The Dogs Like the Gym

image

The big, friendly rescue dogs were also known to like the gym.

This view gives another good shot of the gym, outfitted with padded floors and renovated with a mirrored wall.

A Screened-In Porch Overlooks the Backyard

image

Mahomes’ father was a professional baseball player who played Major League Baseball for several teams for over a decade, so Mahomes had the opportunity to meet star athletes at a young age.

He talked to star players like Alex Rodriguez, asking questions about how they hit a baseball, absorbing the information.

A View From the Top

image

The future Chiefs quarterback also studied how some professional athletes were kind and warm, while others were unapproachable.

Mahomes decided that if he were ever to make it to the big leagues, he would be the kind of athlete that was gracious and inviting to fans.

Heck, he even sent the GQ journalist a 12-pack of Coors Light as a thank you for interviewing him.

The Owner’s Suite Is Enormous

image

Of course, Mahomes made the big time, and he made it fast.

The Chiefs picked Mahomes in the first round of the 2017 NFL draft (10th overall). The team then signed him to a four-year, $16.42 million contract with a $10 million signing bonus.

It’s crazy that even with that $10 million bonus, he stayed with his girlfriend in her dad’s house.

It’s Bigger Than a House

image

The owner’s suite is the size of an entire house at 1,250 square feet when including the laundry, closet, bathroom and exercise room.

In fact, it’s only 500 square feet less than the average home size in Kansas City, where the typical house is 1,782 square feet.
